🌄 The Hilltop Hoods
A battle begins. Enemies appear all around. Berserkers and Druids, oh my! Piety's mastiff is quickly dispatched by a druid. Yevgeni succumbs to battle wounds as well, what a putz.

🌳 Tree Fear
The team approaches a haunting tree. Surrounded by the corpses of blights. There is an axe embedded in the trunk, and a dark green gem near the heart of the tree. Virile attempts to reach in and grab the gem. She is able to remove the gem from the tree. The team decides to hold onto the gem and learn more about it.
Piety checks the pockets of the corpse of the adventurer, finds nothing interesting. She then removes the ornate battle axe from the tree.
Suddenly the effigy of Strahd is ablaze.
And finally and more interestingly, the mercenaries request the gem in lieu of their other payment.
